The mission of the Indiana University Center for Interprofessional Health Education and Practice (CIPHEP) is to design, facilitate, and evaluate interprofessional health practice and education that translates into improved individual and population health outcomes.
CIPHEP’s vision is that all Indiana University learners are systematically prepared to collaborate across professions to improve population and individual health outcomes through high quality team-based care.
Three principles guide CIPHEP’s work:
- Professionalism: obligations and opportunities associated with becoming a professional scholar/educator, and especially with the responsibilities to one’s discipline symbolized by the doctorate.
- Pragmatism: activities needed to ensure that one’s work as an educator is constantly improving and meeting its objectives and its responsibilities to students.
- Policy: capacity to respond to the legitimate questions of legislatures, boards and the increasingly robust demands of a developing market for higher education.
Increase Infrastructure and Capacity: the Center wants to become a dependable, respected, and valued partner at the university, school, and state levels.
Improve Organizational Culture: We want to establish interprofessional collaboration as an actionable core value across Indiana University.
Facilitate Professional and Leadership Development: The center will lead training, leadership development, and information dissemination that support and improve interprofessional practice and education.
Improve Interprofessional Education: We will lead systematic, organized and sequential interprofessional education that prepares IU learners to work across professions to improve population and individual health outcomes through high quality team-based care.
Improve Interprofessional Practice: Collaborate with community and practice partners to develop and implement sustainable interprofessional collaborative practice and teamwork initiatives that include learners and improve individual and population health at the local, state, and national levels.
Improve Scholarship: CIPHEP will lead scholarship that informs interprofessional practice and education (IPE).
