Future Prescribers Workshop
Health professions students play an essential role in helping fight the opioid crisis. With funding awarded as part of Indiana University’s Grand Challenge: Responding to the Addictions Crisis, this interactive workshop leverages interprofessional education to prepare future health professionals’ to join the workforce ready to screen, recognize, and safely address opioid addiction and overdose.
Workshop participants will grow in their ability to work at both individual and system levels. Valuable community partners will attend alongside workshop participants to provide perspective as a health professional. The workshop targets advanced students (i.e., second or third-year medical students) and includes:
- Chronic/acute pain panel discussion;
- Naloxone training;
- SBIRT training; and
- Interprofessional ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) case study.
