As an inaugural member of the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education (NEXUS), IU IPE partners with the Indianapolis Student Outreach Clinic (IU SOC) to bridge the gap between health professional education and health care delivery in the United States.

At IU SOC, students and faculty provide free, primary care-based medical, dental, social and legal services. With more than 1200 uninsured and underserved people living in the Indianapolis community served each year, the IU SOC is one of the largest comprehensive student-led, free medical clinics in the United States.

The IU IPE Nexus team proudly shares its work and lessons learned. One example would be the publication of Outcomes from a single-intervention trial to improve interprofessional practice behaviors at a student-led, free clinic in the Journal of Interprofessional Education and Practice.
