At the Indiana University Interprofessional Practice and Education Center (IU IPE), our mission is clear: improving the lives of people and populations through collaboration.
We believe the challenges facing today’s health and social care systems demand a team-based approach. That’s why our work focuses on preparing students and faculty to become collaborative professionals who are capable of working across disciplines, settings, and systems to deliver better care and stronger outcomes.
IU IPE develops and delivers curriculum, programming, and experiences that support interprofessional education and collaborative practice. Through these efforts, learners build the critical competencies needed for modern, team-based care.
Our educational focus includes:
-
Understanding the roles and responsibilities of other professions
-
Communicating effectively across professions, cultures, and professional focuses
-
Navigating and addressing implicit bias and professional hierarchy
-
Applying tools and strategies to support coordinated, person-centered care
Our students practice collaboration. IU IPE helps shape professionals who are ready to lead in complex, real-world environments.
We serve as a connector between faculty, learners, and community partners, helping bridge gaps between education and practice. Together, we are building a more integrated, equitable, and responsive health and social care workforce.
At IU IPE, collaboration is a mindset that drives our mission and shapes our impact.
