Creating Collaborative Cultures for Students
Training for future healthcare providers, educators, social workers, and public safety professionals means learning to collaborate with others. The Collaborative Topics Series provides students with real-life, interprofessional learning experiences that prepare them to lead, advocate, and make a positive impact in their communities.
Collaborate. Learn. Lead.
Each session invites students, professionals, patients, and community members into a shared space. Together, participants explore how working across professions and perspectives can improve outcomes for:
-
Specific populations, such as individuals with genetic disorders, veterans, families affected by substance use, etc.
-
Community challenges, including health equity, access to care, exploitation, and the social factors that shape well‑being.
-
Collaboration skills, such as conflict resolution, relational communication, and effective team performance.
Through these experiences, all participants live collaboration in action and see how it impacts lives.
Real Voices. Real Learning.
Experiences in the Collaborative Topics Series are grounded in authentic stories and real-world practice. Students hear directly from individuals directly involved with the subjects at hand. These immersive experiences help students connect complex social issues to real people, while building empathy, confidence, and a deeper understanding of the social factors that impact health and well-being.
This series wouldn't be possible without IU IPE's statewide partnerships, including:

Other IU units and community organizations
Our partnerships reflect a commitment to ensuring students learn in and with the communities they will serve.
