In the summer of 2018, the Indiana University Interprofessional Practice and Education Center and the Indiana University School of Education created the “Grand Challenge: Addictions Crisis Certificate Series.” Students from Indiana University’s College of Arts and Sciences, School of Education, School of Nursing, School of Public Health and Social Work have all participated in this series.
The primary purpose of this certificate series is to foster interprofessional collaboration among participants in the particular context of opioid addiction and substance use disorder. The program intends to prepare each student to recognize and respond to opioid addiction and substance overdose within the scope of their respective roles and responsibilities. An important responsibility for all participants is to identify how to assist individuals and their children/family members.
This program consists of multiple workshops each semester. To earn a certificate, learners must attend three workshops within an academic year. All scheduled workshops are listed on our Events page.
