IU School of Dentistry Student Takes First Place

Nov 09, 2019

One highlight of October’s Collaborating Across Borders VII (CAB) conference was the Student Case Competition. Teams of randomly assigned, interprofessional, student groups were given a case about a husband and wife suffering from COPD.

The winning group consisted of two pharmacy students, one medical, one physical therapy, and Indiana University School of Dentistry student Rohan Bansal.

When asked about his role on an interprofessional team, Bansal stated: “Oral health care can affect the entire body and other parts of the body can affect oral health so being able to collaborate and work with other professions should start to become a standard while learning in school.”

The case competition was a part of the CAB Student Engagement Day. The day also featured a poster competition that gave students a chance to share their research with CAB attendees, an engagement forum, and a networking social hosted by the Indiana University Interprofessional Practice and Education Center.

Rohan wasn’t the only IU School of Dentistry student to take home hardware from CAB. His classmate, Tara Bawel, was a part of the team which placed 3rd.
