Dr. Weber Honored by NAP

Three Individuals on red carpet at NAP

April was National Interprofessional Healthcare Month and brought the annual National Academies of Practice Forum in Washington, D.C. This year's NAP Forum gave IU IPE a spotlight to share their work and celebrate career milestones.

Specifically, IU IPE’s Dr. Zach Weber was inducted as a Distinguished Fellow alongside frequent IU IPE collaborator Dr. Sarah Gordon from Manchester University.

To become a Distinguished Fellow with NAP, you must be nominated by an active NAP fellow, submit an application, receive a majority vote from the members of the NAP Council, be a legal US citizen, and have a career spanning a decade or more in your chosen profession which demonstrates a commitment to interprofessional education.

When asked for his thoughts on this accomplishment, Dr. Weber stated:

“It’s an honor to receive this recognition from distinguished peers who have also made significant and enduring contributions in their profession. I am excited to be a member of this organization and look forward to contributing to their mission of advancing interprofessional practice and advocating for policies that serve the best interests of our communities.”

Dr. Weber is the Assistant Dead for Education here at IU IPE, where he has been intricate in the evolution of our TEACH curriculum and leads our curriculum committee. When not performing duties with IU IPE, he is the Director of Interprofessional Education and Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice for Purdue University College of Pharmacy. Dr. Weber has received the College’s Faculty Preceptor of the Year and Outstanding Teacher of the Year awards. He has received the Class of 1922 Outstanding Innovation in Helping Students Learn Award, been selected as a Fellow in the Purdue University Teaching Academy, received the Award for Institutional Excellence and Innovation in Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Health Care from the Association of Schools Advancing Health Professions (ASAHP), and the Interprofessional Collaborative Practice Award from American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.
