The Indiana University Interprofessional Practice and Education Center (IU IPE) is delighted to introduce Julie LaMothe DNP, APRN, CPNP-PC  as the new Director of Faculty Development and Engagement at IU IPE.

Dr. LaMothe is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Indiana University School of Nursing and has spent years championing interprofessional collaborative practice within IU and as a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP). Her belief that collaborative practice creates a more positive experience for practitioners, patients, and their families led to her deliberate implementation of IPE into the nursing curriculum and to actively promote a collaborative environment. Dr. LaMothe's passion for IPE was enhanced through her role as project manager of a three-year Health Resource and Service Administration (HRSA) grant focused on interprofessional collaborative practice at IU Health and in Indiana primary care clinics.

"As the IPE Center’s Director of Faculty Development and Engagement, I am excited about the opportunity to collaborate with my health science, social work, and public health colleagues to further promote Interprofessional Collaborative Practice within the university. I look forward to connecting and engaging with colleagues to share innovative faculty development ideas and meet your IPE needs. By nurturing a culture of collaboration and patient-centered care, we can work towards improving health outcomes for patients and families." - Dr. LaMothe.

Dr. LaMothe began her time with IU as a student before moving into practice, where she worked as a pediatric nurse practitioner for over 20 years. She then returned to the IU School of Nursing as a faculty member, holding the title of Clinical Assistant Professor. She recently served as the Assistant Chair of the Community and Health Systems Department. Dr. LaMothe is a Master Trainer in the Department of Defense and Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's TeamSTEPPS program. She is a Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) trainee and an Indiana LEND Training Program Discipline Coordinator.

Dr. LaMothe has published on numerous topics, including the healthcare transition of children and youth with special healthcare needs, evidence-based nursing and interprofessional education and practice. She has been active in the IPE Center as a member of the Academic Steering Committee before accepting her new position beginning July 1st.

IU IPE is thrilled to welcome Julie to the team and excited to see all of the new collaborative opportunities she brings.
